Humanities Scholarship Guidelines for Promotion to Tenure

NOTE:  These guidelines are to be used when an Associate Professor on term is being promoted to a tenured position, either Associate Professor with tenure or full Professor.

A set of excerpts from the candidate’s scholarship that will be read by the entire Tenure Appointments and Promotions Committee. Choose selections that will help the committee grasp the range and significance of the candidate’s scholarship and research, comprising roughly 100 pages. Each selection must include footnotes, endnotes, appropriate illustrations or appendices, and, in the case of books, a table of contents. Include a cover sheet with this section explaining the source (i.e., book or journal title) of each article and the page numbers. Important: the content of these selections should not overlap.
