The Faculty Handbook is the primary resource for policies governing reappointments and promotions for the various faculty ranks at Yale. One very important and universal policy is that all faculty members with multi-year appointments of three or more years are entitled to a review in the penultimate year of the term.
Instructions for conducting reappointment and promotion reviews are available below for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. For faculty in the Schools of Medicine and Public Health, please consult the Office of Faculty Affairs, Yale School of Medicine (http://medicine.yale.edu/facultyaffairs/index.aspx). Instructions for all other schools are forthcoming.

- Faculty Appointment Form-3501 FR.56 is a new form and has replaced both the Faculty Reappointment Form 3501 FR.08A and Faculty Promotion Form 3501 FR.08B. Use this new form for reappointing and promoting all ranks of faculty, as well as for initial secondary appointments and reappointments. Please remember to include fully joint and secondary appointments of the same rank.
