Training for new Faculty Information System (FIS)

July 24, 2013

In August, we will begin rolling out the Faculty Information System (FIS) to all administrators whose work is related to faculty appointments.  The Faculty Information System (FIS) was created to provide secure access to a single reference point for faculty appointments, teaching, degrees, leaves, and committee assignments.  Information is pulled from several official University databases such as Oracle HR and Banner, the course registration system. During the training, participants will receive an overview of FIS including the source of information being displayed, available functionality and reports, and various applications throughout the year. At the end of the class, participants who have been granted access will have an opportunity to engage with the system.

To register for training please go to http://www.yale.edu/training/ .  Select “Browse Courses & Forms by Course Owner” from the menu on the right.  Scroll down the list to select “Office of Faculty Administrative Services.” On the page that opens, click the “Courses” button to display the list of offerings with dates, times, and locations.   NOTE:  Anyone wishing to have access to the system and hoping to engage with the system during training must submit the attached Access Request Form at least three business days prior to the training session.  Attendance at a training session is required in order to access the system.

I look forward to seeing you soon.
